AIMO’s Bachelor’s in Science for Osteopathic Sciences and Osteopathic (conversion) have met the rigorous standards to be recognized with validation from the UCO.

Charles Hunt, UCO Vice-Chancellor says of the agreement:

“It is wonderful to be able to deepen the bonds between these two leading institutions in the fields of osteopathic education. The University College of Osteopathy is the only osteopathic institution in Europe granted the power to award its own degrees, and with University College status. It is a pleasure to be able to recognise the educational standards of AIMO and validate their important degrees.”

Marco Giardino, Director of AIMO says:

“Since its foundation, the Accademia Italiana di Medicina Osteopatica AIMO (Italian Academy of Osteopathic Medicine) has looked at the UK models of osteopathic education as examples of excellence in Europe.

Every year in AIMO we have worked to raise our educational and clinical standards to ensure high-quality education for all students.  The Quality Certifications achieved (UNI EN ISO 9001: 2015; UNI EN ISO 29990: 2011; UNI EN 16686: 2015) are an important acknowledgement of our good work and they are also a call to improve still further.

The validation by the University College of Osteopathy (UCO) is a great achievement and we are very proud of it. UCO has been a leading provider of osteopathic education, research and healthcare for over 100 years and we are honored by this partnership and will work diligently to live up to this recognition."

The UCO and AIMO were first introduced by Dr Ian Drysdale, founder of the Consultancy in Education and Research (CEAR), in 2016. CEAR has been working with AIMO to help facilitate the UCO validation of the BSc (Hons) Osteopathic Science and the BSc (Hons) Osteopathy Conversion degrees. Ian Drysdale says of the important partnership:

“I am delighted to have been part of this exciting process which brings degree recognition to a high quality osteopathic programme in Italy. My warmest wishes to both AIMO and UCO for continuing success in the future.”

Students now studying at AIMO will enjoy the security of their degrees being validated by UCO, Europe’s only degree awarding institution.
