Coin Street Community Health Networking Event

UCO Community Healthcare Networking Event in Collaboration with Healthwatch Southwark

The University College of Osteopathy (UCO) and Healthwatch Southwark were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Southwark to open their joint Community Health Networking Event at the Coin Street Community Centre on 20 July.

The interactive meeting brought together 62 people from 23 local health and social welfare organisations, community interest companies, charities and patient support groups based in South-East London.
The aim was to share information about health resources and needs within the local community, explore ways to strengthen links between groups and to develop frameworks for sharing knowledge and activities moving forward. The event was funded by a Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) grant to enable specialist universities to share their expertise.

Charles Hunt, Vice Chancellor of the UCO said of the event:

“It was humbling to hear of all the good works occurring in Southwark and reconnect with some of our pre-covid partners. I hope going forward we can create some new partnerships and better support the healthcare in the Borough.”

Gosia Kaczmarczyk, Community Engagement officer for Healthwatch Southwark added:

“The event was a great opportunity to develop our new partnership with UCO and to meet the local stakeholders in the spirit of learning and collaboration. We look forward to exploring new ways of working together in the future to benefit local population.”

Following a successful outcome from REF2021 (the Research Excellence Framework), and news about future HEIF funding, we plan to develop ideas from this event into tangible collaborative health projects in SE1.
