Isabel possesses extensive management experience in the public sector, particularly in regulation of healthcare and education.
She has worked for Department for Health, GMC, and the Council for Regulation of Healthcare Professionals. In addition she has held senior roles with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and was the first Chief Executive of Ofqual, the independent regulator of qualifications and examinations in England, reporting directly to Parliament. In her role as Executive Director of the A Level Content Advisory Board she has advised the Government on the content of A levels.
Isabel currently serves on the Board of Qualifications Wales, and on a number of Government advisory committees on ethical issues. She has an extensive working knowledge of the higher education sector and is a Governor of the University of Hertfordshire as well as holding an honorary post of Affiliated Lecturer at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Education. She was an independent member of the Council of St Georges Medical School London from 2004 -2011 and chaired their Audit Committee.
