Primary Specialism: NHS, Research, Regulation, Clinical Practice

Jo-anne is Clinical Psychologist, Psychotherapist and Organisational Consultant familiar with the dual functions of clinical professional trainings and excellence in undergraduate and post-graduate education, transferrable knowledge which is very useful due to the many similar issues and strands of thought in both psychology and osteopathic professions.

She sat on the Education and Training Committee of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – the committee responsible for developing and recommending the standards of education and training for the 15 professions regulated by the HCPC. Here she developed a capacity to understand regulation and legislation and she also contributed to the reviewing of complaints about education providers. Although never working in the profession, she knows osteopathy herself having had treatment.

She also has senior clinical and management experience within the NHS, University sector and in private practice. She has built links with relevant organisations and strengthened the national and regional training activities associated with her disciplines, including user involvement. She has co-authored a book on outcome measurement, commissioned by SAGE publishers and has an impressive list of paper and chapter publications.

She has previous experience as a Foundation trustee and has also been a school governor.
